Opinium Review – Is This A Legit Survey Site?
Before I begin, please take note that this is a UK opportunity and not open in other countries at the time of writing.
Opinium is a survey related platform located in the UK, in London and I had some good first impressions when I stumbled upon it recently…
Why?
Well, on their main homepage they mention some key problems that many people tend to complain about with online surveys.
Problems such as:
- Surveys being too long.
- Not being paid more for longer surveys.
- Low paying surveys.
- Repetitive questions.
They claim they aim to make their surveys different – they want their surveys to be engaging an rewarding! They say they keep their surveys on the shorter side AND if you do happen to o a longer survey, you will be paid more.
This all sounded pretty positive. No hyped up earning claims and it looks as through they are passionate about standing out from the norm and improving aspects that people struggle with when doing online surveys.
But is this site really much different from all the hundreds of others online? I signed up to check it out for myself.
Opinium Review In Brief:
Website: https:www.opinium.co.uk
Money Making Opportunity: Pocket Money
Price: Free to sign up.
Overall Rating: Legit! But it does have a pretty high payout threshold and the limited amount of surveys mean that it’s going to take a long time to reach cash-out. If you don’t already enjoy doing surveys, then this isn’t the best option for making money.

What Is Opinium – How Does It Work?
Sometimes people wonder how doing online surveys can really pay you, there must be a catch.
But if you think about it – businesses are desperate to learn about their customers and potential customers, to get a unique insight into their likes, dislikes and behaviors, so that they can improve their businesses.
The business pays survey panels to house those surveys and put them on their platform.
Every time someone completes a survey, the panel will get a commission. They then share a portion of their commission with you.
How Much Can You Earn?
I was a little disappointed with how high the payout threshold is – £25. This is very high in comarison to many sites and especially as they say, their average survey pays 50p.
That means, on average, you’d to complete 50 surveys in order actually get your money. In my experience, many people give up after they have completed less and having a lower payout threshold, can be a good incentive to continue.
However, as most of the surveys are meant to be short, (only around 5 minutes) this at least wouldn’t be much effort.
There are also quarterly prize draws – with the top prize being £100 and a further 25 winners winning a £10 Amazon voucher.
You will need to have completed a survey within the last three months to be included into the prize draw.
How Do You Take Surveys
First and foremost, you need to register. This is quick & simple to do.
From here, you will be sent emails directly to your inbox. Each email will contain info about the survey – such as, how long it will take and how much money you will make.
I also found that you can access what surveys are available on the main dashboard – one you have registered and login.
When I first registered though, there wasn’t anything available right away.
How Will You Get Paid
At the time of writing. Opinium don’t pay via PayPal. The options available are:
- Cheque
- Balance Transfer
- Amazon Gift Card
- Donate To Charity.
However, they also mention that – if a particular payment method isn’t on the list, they may be able to offer you that option on request.
How Often Can You Take Surveys?
Opinium say that the average amount of surveys a member may be sent, is around 4 per month. This is a low amount, but I find sites tend to say this, and actually send much more than this.
However, if this figure was true, it really would take a long time to cash out.
Let’s say you make 50p a survey and you get sent four surveys a month – that means you’d only make £2 a month.
It would take you about a year just to reach the payout threshold in that case!
What Do People Say About Opinium?
From some comments people have left online, I have a good sense of some of the pros and cons…
Pros being…
– Quick surveys
– Less screening out issues
– Interesting topics
– Quick and simple to sign up
– A reasonable choice of pay-out options
– You can make 50p per friend/family member you refer to sign up
– You may be able to qualify for higher paying focus group opportunities
Cons Being…
– Some claim they have sent emails, with no response
– Taking a long time to reach £25
– UK only
– It could take two weeks in some cases, to receive payment once you have requested it.
Is Opinium Legit & Worth It?
If you’re just looking to partake in a site that sends you a few surveys now and then, which may be interesting to do and only take a short amount of time, this could interest you.
It’s not much of a money making opportunity, as surveys are fairly limited and you’ll only roughly make 50p a time.
But there are plenty of people who do enjoy the process of surveys and it can be refreshing to actually do one that isn’t so repetitive and dull, as so many can be.
I would say if you’re just doing this for the money, you may be disappointed. In this case though, you can also donate your winnings to charity, which adds a different element to it.
