Note: This App appears to only be LIVE right now in the UK, France and Belgium… (Update me if you hear otherwise!).
Today, I’m taking a look at the Shopmium App – which is another App that claims to help save you money on your grocery shopping.
What I do love about cashback Apps and websites is, it’s like free money.
They’re paying you for things you’d be doing anyway, right?
However, they could also entice you into buying things that you wouldn’t normally buy too… So, you need to be savvy about it!
In recent years, my regular shop has gone through the roof in price, so I will take any savings that I can get and I do try to be frugal when shopping…..
(Erm “Try,” being the operative word there! 🙂 ).
But what about THIS App in particular? Is this one any better than others out there?
In my Shopmium review, I will cover the following topics….
- What Is Shopmium?
- How Does Shopmium Work?
- What Is The Shopmium Club?
- Referral Program.
- Reviews And Feedback About Shopmium
- Pros Vs Cons.
- Beyond Cashback Apps, Other Ways To Make Money!
What Is Shopmium:
Shopmium is an App that you can download for IOS or android phones for free.
You can use it to save money in various supermarkets by getting cashback on your purchases.
There are various products to choose from, that are updated frequently.
Sometimes you can redeem the full price of the product back, (making it free) and other times, you can get a good discount.
You can also earn a freebie just for signing up, (see below) and there are various other perks you can gain from using the App over time.
I will explain this further in the next section!
How Does Shopmium Work?
First and foremost, once you have downloaded the App and opened it up, you just need to select a country to join from.
The options I was given at the time of sign up was the UK, France and Belgium – although, this could change in time.
It was really simple to sign up with Facebook or via email.
The App then asked me if I’d like a free chocolate bar… Yes please! 🙂
Once you’re signed up, you can browse the different products available.
There are tabs at the top which put the offers into categories, including:
- All offers,
- Beauty and kids.
When I was browsing, I didn’t feel there were all that many offers and some were repeated….
However, I did find some offers for things I would actually use and some offers made the product completely free too!
We haven’t tried this variety, but my children love the regular cinnamon ones so, I’m sure they’d enjoy these too.
As well as free offers, there were also some really decent discounts – such as a fridge pack of tuna, with an offer on for only 50p, (usually £2.25!).
While there weren’t a huge number of offers, they were all for regular things that I could envisage making use of.
Once you find and offer that you like, you can add it to your “selection,” where you can find all your saved offers.
What Is The Shopmium Club?
The Shopmium club offers extra perks and incentives for participating with the App, by reaching levels.
Beginner Level – you must do the following to move up…
- Discover an offer,
- Save an offer to your selection,
- Check the eligibility of a product,
- Request cashback.
You can move up levels by referring your friends and requesting cashback and each level unlocks new rewards.
This includes offers exclusive to your level, birthday freebies and offers and new information about Shopmium before anyone else.
The only thing is, I was a little confused about the levels when I was reading about them.
There seems to be the beginner level, followed by Silver and Gold.
As a Silver member you can…
- Get faster payments.
- Faster response from customer service,
- Join the Shopmium community for surveys, choose your own referral gifts and more.
- Challenges specially for silver members.
As a Gold member you can…
- More challenges for Gold members,
- An exclusive look at offers, before they’re available.
- A present on your Birthday.
- Additional offers.
However, to remain at the Gold level, you need to request cashback at least once each 30 days.
That doesn’t mean withdraw, it just means to scan your receipt and bar-code for a product to redeem cashback for an offer.
To redeem a cashback offer, be sure to check out all the T&C’s – and how long the offer has left!
Generally though, all you need to do is…
- Purchase the product, but keep hold of your receipt!
- Take a photo of the receipt via the App, (you need to let it access your camera).
- Scan the barcode with the App, as instructed.
To start this process, click the little piggy icon at the bottom center of the App screen.
You’ll be able to redeem your cashback via your bank account or PayPal.
Get Paid To Refer Friends And Family:
You can also get paid for recommending others to join Shopmium.
You actually get £3 for each person you refer and it should be easy to do, because you can also offer them a free jar of Nutella! 🙂
The offers are subject to change, but looks as though they’re always decent.
Any foodie related freebie is bound to give people a great incentive to join up, everyone loves the chance to get something for free.
Alternatively, simply use my direct sign up link here, to redeem your freebie.
Reviews And Feedback Online:
Shopmium has some very good feedback online.
Currently, it has five stars on Tripadvisor, although – less than 20!
However, far more impressive is that it has 4.8 stars on the App Store and over 8,000 reviews so far.
It also has over 4 stars on Google play and over 30,000 reviews!!!
Generally feedback is very good too…
Some negative comments revolve around there being limited offers, some glitches with the App and that you can only redeem the same offer once.
Generally though, people seem genuinely pleased with the App and the savings they have made.
Pros Vs Cons Of Shopmium:
- Great looking App, easy to navigate.
- Freebie offer for signing up.
- Extra perks with the Shopmium Club.
- Simple to redeem cashback.
- Can cash-out via PayPal, or your bank account.
- The seem to be fairly limited offers.
- Some people have complained of technical issues with the App, but this seems in the vast minority.
- You need to be either in the UK/France/Belgium to sign up.
Is Shopmium Worth It?
This is one of the best looking & easy to navigate Apps of its type that I’ve come across.
I really appreciate how they make an extra effort to explain everything clearly, so there is no mystery on how this App works.
On the downside, I’d really like to see many more offers available.
That said, a saving is a saving and some of these items are completely free.
For example; the free cereal that was pictured earlier in this review is a brand we may buy – so, getting it for free is definitely worth it.
I like making savings, whether that’s cashback online, or via an App.
But I like making money more! That’s why I came online several years back looking for ways to do it.
Personally, I make money from having a couple of blogs/websites – which I make money from paid advertising, referral programs and promoting products and services.
It’s definitely not easy, but it is possible for anyone and this step-by-step training showed me exactly how to do it.
Have you tried Shopmium – or any other apps like it?
Let me know in the comments!
All the best,
