This post is for my readers based in the UK!
I thought I’d write about this company, because they’re something I cam across while I was browsing online recently and it struck me as an interesting idea.
More importantly, it’s something that could potentially make you money.
So, What is “You Spot Property,” About?
The idea is simple: If you spot an empty property, (that meet certain conditions), you can fill out a form found on the “You Spot Property,” website and potentially earn a £20 gift card (of your choice) if the property meets all the correct criteria.
The exciting part is, if they manage to successfully sell the property, you can take 1% of what every the selling price is, (up to £10,000).
There is a real problem in the UK, with many houses being left empty and let to rot – while so many people struggle to make ends meet, struggle to meet rent and in some circumstances, face homelessness.
So, this is a positive step at trying to correct this situation and ensure that no property is left to waste.
You Spot Property also donate £500 to a local property, each time they successfully sell a house.
One woman reportedly made £6,500 after she reported an empty property – that’s a decent chunk of change, for something that would have taken a few minutes to do.
(You Spot Property Story Here).
OK, so while £20 isn’t going to provide you with much financial reward, that 1% of the selling price certainly can.
Time to go house hunting in your area perhaps?
Reporting A Property Is Simple:
If you visit the “You Spot Property,” webiste, you can find clear and straight forward instructions, showing you the right steps to take.
However, you will need to read the T&C’s because there are many specific conditions that need to be met.
Also, at the moment the locations are limited to specific areas.
At the time of writing, the properties must be based in:
- London or M25,
- Bedfordshire,
- Cambridgeshire,
- Hertfordshire,
- Essex,
- Kent,
- Sussex,
- Surrey,
- Hampshire,
- Berkshire,
- Oxfordshire,
- Buckinghamshire.
So, ensure you check their website for any updates regarding locations.
Important Info Before You Start House Hunting:
- You need to be 18,
- You must be a UK resident,
- You must report the property via their website,
- It must be a residential property and you must know the address,
- There is no cap on the amount of properties you can rent.
There are also various other terms and conditions that need to be met, in order for the property to be valid.
Make sure you read the full T&C’s here.
Go And Spot Property!
All in all, a potential 10k bonus for taking a couple of minutes to fill out a form? Definitely worth your time.
Furthermore, since you can send them an unlimited amount of properties, I’d certainly say it’s worth keeping an active eye out in your area!
