How Does Shopathome Work?

Shopathome is essentially a cashback website and there are many different websites and apps completely dedicated to providing cashback offers.

Personally, I have the free Swagbucks chrome extension and rarely use anything else, because the extension notifies me whenever I’m on a website that I can get cashback on.

However, Shopathome ALSO has a browser extension, which makes things easier, (I will explain that in a moment.).

There are many other sites you could check out too, Ebates is a popular choice in the US…. Or Quidco in the UK.

Or you may be interested in Apps like the Ibotta App or receipt hog, .. Which can also help you to earn cashback.

In fact, there are SO many different apps and websites that can help you get Cashback, that it you could find it pretty overwhelming and confusing!

Therefore, I think it’s best to figure out your favorite platform or app and just stick with the one.

The amount of cashback you can actually get really varies from site to site, but for me I guess it’s convenience that wins out in the end.

Most people will want a way to get cashback, that’s ultimately the most hassle free!

In the case of Shopathome, you can exchange your cashback for gift cards, or even PayPal money now.

You can search for Cashback via their webiste, but similarly to Swagbucks, they also have a free handy extension you can download and this will make everything much easier for you.

This is extension is a browser savings button and once downloaded, you’ll be able to see it in the top right hand side corner of your screen every time you’re on your laptop/computer.

You’ll then be able to link from there to all the different stores available and also, see what deals are going to be available to you at any time.

If you’re on a website that Shopathome has deals with, this extension will also let you know that you can get Cashback there.

What I will say, is that Cashback browser extensions can usually clash! So, it’s best to have your favorite and just stick with that.

Don’t be running multiple cashback browser extensions at the same time. This can be why sometimes people don’t get their cashback tracked.

Signing Up With Shopathome:

It’s really quick to sign up here – if you visit their main page, you just need your email address and name to signup.

This really makes it simple and you don’t need to give them tonnes of information, which is always a perk.

Once you’re in, you can browse and select all your favorite stores available, that you can get cashback with.

You need to click through to the stores in question via shopathomes particular links on their website or via their browser extension.

This is important, as these are tracking links and if your link is not tracked, your cashback isn’t going to register.

This is sometimes where people go wrong with Cashback.

For example; they may click a link and go to a store but then get distracted, do something else and come back much later to the website and make a purchase.

By which time, the cashback is no longer tracked and they think it’s been some fault of the website.

Also, people expect their cashback to be registered immediately, from the moment they make their purchase…. but it can often take several days to register.

By which time, you may have forgotten all about it! It’s a good idea to keep track, just in case.

Make a note of the date and times you’ve attempted to get cashback and take screenshots of your purchases if you can.

Most people won’t go to these lengths and just take the risk, but if something does go wrong, it’s useful to have the information to hand.

Other than that, that’s all there is to this. It’s very simple to do.

I was a bit disappointed to see that you have to have $20 in your account prior to withdrawing your earnings.

I think this is high, as you often won’t get that much cashback back for your purchases and it would take a while to save up.

Of course, the more you shop and spend online, the quicker you will reach that threshold.

Reviews Of Shopathome Online – What Do They Say?

There is a mixed bag of reviews for Shopathome at the time of writing.

As an example right now…. Shopathome has 2.0 Stars on Trustpilot, with around 100 reviews and 3.0 stars on Sitejabber, with under 200 reviews.

Considering this business has been around since 1986, I would have expected more general reviews.

• Sitejabber, 3.0 Stars.

The negative points people have highlighted include things like… not receiving cashback, records of cashback disappearing and customer service problems.

These are generally very common complaints leveled against cashback websites in general.

The problem is, there will sometimes be errors! Both that could be the fault of the customer, or with the tracking in general.

But some of the complaints do look suspicious! For example; someone claimed shopathome owed them $50,000 in cashback, (LOL)….

I’m not sure how much you’d have to purchase to earn $50,000 in cashback, but this seems like a stretch in reality! 😮

• Other ways to earn in addition, like surveys and offers.

CONS

• A number of complaints/mixed reviews,
• $20 cashout threshold, which is pretty high,
• May take a long time to reach the payout!
• Some say the browser extension can slow down your computer.

Is Shopathome Worth It?

I just don’t really see this website standing out from some of the competition.

You can certainly get a broad range of offers and can also get a bunch of real coupons too, that you can print out and use directly in the store.

There are many alternatives out there to Shopathome though.

In fact Shopathome is partnered with Swagbucks, which is my go-to browser extension for cashback.

Two of the next most popular choices in the US would be Ibotta App, or the Ebates website.

Personally, I feel cashback is only really worth it when you shop online a lot – because you don’t get very much back percentage wise.

However, you can get discounts on so many websites now, that if you do shop a fair amount online, you will find it’s worthwhile.

That said, I think it’s best to find your own particular favorite cashback provider and stick with them – you don’t want tiny bits of cashback on all different websites.

That would just take far longer to reach the payout threshold and you’re probably more likely to just forget about it as well!
