Will Word Relax App really pay you for playing a word game?
I’ve looked into all sorts of Apps that claim to help you make money for downloading apps, doing free scratchcards, paid surveys, paid offers and much more….
But Apps that pay to you to play games specifically is more of a new on for me.
Recently I’ve seen an upsurge in Apps that claim to pay you for playing simple word games and one of those is called Word Relax.
Want to stop making pocket change? Learn how to build an online income – like I have!
How Does Word Relax Work?
Simply download the App for free in Google Play and you can get started immediately.
You simply need to find words from a selection of five letters, that will fit in the word grid on your screen.
Words may be from two letters, to five letters long.
You can earn coins for completing different levels and also some cash along the way.
When, (or if) you reach $20, you can withdraw cash via PayPal, or exchange the money for an Amazon giftcard.
There are many, MANY levels and some of the words get more complex as you go.
If you get stuck, you can use coins you accumulate to pay for cheats, will I will explain more further down.
How Can Word Relax Pay You?
You will frequently need to watch Ads, in order to get more coins, or more to simply continue playing on to the same level.
Advertisers will pay Word Relax every time an Ad is viewed and the idea is, they will share some of their profits with you.
This is how you are able to play this game for free and, (theoretically) make a small amount of money.
Have you made money with Word Relax? Let me know in the comments!
How Much Can You Make?
It’s not really about how much you can make, as to whether you can ever cash out.
Typically with this sort of App, (where free money is involved) they start out by giving you some money, (but not enough that you can withdraw).
Eventually they will give you less and less, until it seems impossible that you will ever reach the cashout amount.
For example; after the very first level of this game, it said I’d won $5 already.
Then it went up again to $9, very quickly. They obviously want you to keep going with this.
After that…. a big drop, I got $1.50.
Next I got $1. Next I got $.50 …. So, you see, it goes down.
Not only does it go down, but the period of time that passes before you get any reward at all, gets longer over time.
You also have to watch more Ads as time goes on. At first, I watched hardly any Ads, but as I progressed I needed to watch more.
Cash Vs Coins… What’s The Difference?
You get cash via the game but that just stays in one place and you don’t need to use that.
You also have coins that you collect and you can use these coins to skip viewing Ads, if you want), or to get things like additional clues or extra time in the game.
you can also get more coins, by watching more Ads.
In addition, there is a “task list,” where you can get more coins for completing certain tasks.
For example, for using to hint cheats, you get 50 additional coins – or for sharing on social media, you get 50 additional coins, (see below image!).
Cheats And Bonuses On Word Relax:
If you get completely stuck, there are some tricks you can buy – but they will cost you money in coins.
Here are some of the cheats:
- Dartboard icon – you tap the tile to reveal latter, (cost: 200 coins).
- Magic wand icon – tap this to reveal the entire word, (cost: 300 coins).
- Hint – will give you a handy hint, (cost: 50 coins).
Obviously, it’s better to just save your coins and not have to use these cheats or hints.
I used the cheats just to see what they were about and what they did – but I didn’t actually need them up until this point in the game because, they just aren’t that hard to figure out.
So, you can probably get by without using them!
Is This Game Misleading?
Having watched a lot of Ads for games like this now, I’m not surprising that people feel they’re misleading.
The Ads often show people winning lots of money – when that’s really far from the truth.
A majority of people just never reach the cashout threshold with these games and I constantly get messages from people who have spent many months playing a game and can’t seem to manage.
These games are a bit different than what I normally look at though – I will keep going and see what happens.
How Much I Made….
By the time I gave up, (for now) I made $12.91. But the rate I was getting money was starting to very seriously slow down now.
I suspected it would soon go down much further very quickly.
All being said, I did still quite enjoy the game. The title of, “word Relllaaxxxx…” is pretty accurate, I found it quite relaxing.
What Do Other People Say?
This App currently has 4.6 stars on Google, with over 17k reviews and over 100,000 installs.
One reviewer said not to put any random non-existent words in the game, as they believe they make less money if they do.
Although, I’m very dubious as to whether this would have any impact at all.
As far as the money goes, people say it pays out initially an then it gradually disappears.
Many people that play this game just enjoy it for what it is. IF they happen to actually make money from it then that’s fine – but if not, it’s still a free game they enjoy.
Is Words Relax Legit?
I’d like to hear from some people who have actually won.
It’s one thing to take an incredibly long time, but EVENTUALLY get to the cash out threshold – and quite another for it to be impossible.
Have you made it to the $20? Please let me know.
Aside from that, i’ts quite a fun game and it’s fun to play – even without the promise of free money!
Beyond Freebies & Apps…. Want To Make More?
I became really interested in the idea of online business in 2015 and set about to make it my goal to at least build up a part-time income online.
Which thankfully I did achieve within the first year, but it took a lot longer to generate something more substantial.
I tried some of these ideas – some worked better than others.
But the one thing I’ve profited from more than anything to date, is having my own website.
How do you profit from a website? Well…. one way is from Ads when you have enough daily visitors.
Another is affiliate marketing, where you can recommend products & services and earn a commission for doing so.
Other ways still may include, creating your own products and courses, email marketing and more.
Having your own website means having your own piece of internet property, which no one can take away – & that means a lot!
Want to know how it’s done? Check out the free training here – it’s where I first started & it’s great for beginners.
I hope you found my Word Relax review useful – please share your experience of this App, (or any others) in the comments section!

I have 16.59 and level 225 have to play many games to get 20 cent or so I play When I’m board but not gonna invest in tons of time to maybe get paid if we do, but it’s a game to play if your board gonna see if I ever reach 20 and really get paid
Nat says
Someone commented that they had reached the cashout amount, but they were at level 3000. Good luck!
Ginger says
I have been playing for about 3 week and I am almost 70 years old and spent many hours a day playing. I too, am determined to get to the bonus of $20.00. Also, I am very disgusted that they made the game payout very, very misleading. I am currently on level 869. I have about $18.36. In order to earn about another 20 cents, I have to complete 139 more levels. Even though I enjoy playing the game, 139 more levels to receive another 20 cent is kind of ridiculous!!! I will continue until I reach the $20.00 payout but I really feel this company took
advantage of people and their game is very misleading when it comes to actually earning a $20.00 payout.
Joe says
I’m on level 1677 with 19.07 cents I was at 16 something more than a month ago and I play couple of hours a day. I have to complete another 189 levels to get another 11 cents or less and then complete another so many levels. If it goes any lower you’ll be looking at more than 3000 levels to complete and maybe cash out..
Nat says
Hi Joe, yes the one person who I’ve seen cashed out, said they were at level 3000, so that seems to be the magic number so far.
Ronda says
I’ve got 98.74$ n it won’t let me cash out. When I start the game it says 20$ cash out. After I reached it it says 100$ cash out. Rip off
Nat says
Yes it looks that way Ronda!
Christy says
I looked up at which level would I make 20.00 and it said 100-150…… totally wrong. I’m at level 324 and only have 17.08. I also read someone finally cashed out at 20.00 but they were at level 3000!! That’s insane!!
Nat says
Yes Christy – someone commented they were at level 3000 when they finally cashed out :/.
Tianna says
I’m at level 3401 and still haven’t come close. It drops down once I got to 19.60 it was 98 levels before the next and now it dropped to one penny each 98 levels. I hope they know I’m determined now cuz it’s taken sooo much of my time and I’ve yet to hear anyone cashing out. The cash out is def not at 3000
Nat says
I’ve seen someone say they cashed out then – however, I believe the exact level you reach will vary and won’t be the same for everyone. Let us know if you do finally manage to cash out! I think most give up before they do!!!
Amy says
I am guessing they changed the game levels needed after some people cashed out because many people on reddit are way over 3000 and no where close to cashing out now.
Mary Pockert says
I am on level 6000 with $19.98 in the bank. I need 100 more levels to get 1c more – but guess what, there are only 6100 levels in the game so no you can never ‘cash out’. I have 336,730 coins. I have won the tournament many times. The game itself is good. It should be illegal to imply that you can take out cash. I don’t care about the cash but I just thought I’d put you all straight. The number of coins you win is irrelevant. It’s the same for everybody – ie the number of levels increases as the reward gets smaller so the last levels are 1c for 189 levels.
Nat says
1 cent for 189 levels!?!! That’s just insane. Thanks for sharing this.
Amy says
I am on level 3003 and it just dropped to 2 cents and it looks like it will go to a penny from comments I read on reddit. Someone else said they got to $19.99 and it stopped counting their levels and won’t let them get the last penny to cash out.
Nat says
Someone commented that they get something like 1 cent for 189 levels now and are on level 6000 so, yes clearly 3000 isn’t close. It’s definitely deceptive how they do it… and that many levels for 1 cent is just ridiculous. 99.9% of people must just give up before ever reaching cashout.
Ginger says
It just may be time to look into a class action law suit against this company. I was telling a friend about this and it is totally unfair and misleading. I have to do another 139 levels right now and before that it was 119 levels and before that it was 99. Like I said previously, I am at level 869. They get paid for advertising and they are misleading us and making us watch all these ads which by the way are very repetitive.
Nat says
There are many Apps like this and the misleading element is why the App Store took the move of taking off a lot of the Apps from their store. Google Play seems to allow them all in comparison. However, they do tend to cover themselves in a disclaimer somewhere – which tends to say it’s for entertainment only or something along those lines and so, they are then covered legally. However, yes they will be generating an income from the Ads they’re showing on their App and presumably a fair amount, because this is a popular game.
Joe says
I think the cash out may be 6000.
And another game called idle bungee and another called coin pusher..
I see the same lady on different ads of these games winning the same ungodly amount of money but on differ games..they should all be banned for false advertising like coin pusher, if you happed to get all the fruits you can bank 10000 US dollars. But a few have and nothing. You need 36 of them on thier list and they got it all but no payout and no support either..
Nat says
Hi thanks Joe – I will check out those other ones you’ve mentioned.
Kiki says
I reached level 3000 and got to $20. I applied for my amazon gift card. It said “pending” for a few days. Now it says “success” but I haven’t received an email with redeeming instructions. I have emailed them every day about it and have gotten no response. I check my spam daily too to make sure I don’t miss it.
I’m currently at level 3670 with $7.50 with five levels to get more. Idk if I should give up trying?
Nat says
Hi Kiki – you have done well to get $20 at only level 3000, some people have taken wayyyy longer and still aren’t there. However, do NOT give up trying to get your gift card. Continue to email them and check your email – you won that gift card fair and square. You may have more luck leaving a review on Google Play saying you haven’t received your gift card and they may respond to you on there. Let us know if you manage to get it!!!
Brian H. says
I reached level 3000 the other day and got to $20. Got a choice of either PayPal or an Amazon gift card. The instructions said that it was slower to do PayPal, so I opted for the Amazon gift card. After a couple of days, it still says processing. I’m going to give it until Monday and then complain. After 90 more levels, I have $4.50. Slower payout from when I first started. There’s only 6000 levels, so……:).
SM says
Dang I was all excited for this game. Now I am greatly bummed.
Nat says
Sorry Stewie 🙁
Jenn Dahl says
Yep, don’t count on making any cash from this app. The ads are horrible! They make out watch an ad after every puzzle eventually. Then the ad turns into 2 ads. You will see the timer reach zero then it goes to next part of ad where it plays another 10-15 seconds. It’s an ok app if you ain’t looking to make any money. Glad to know that it gets worse and worse as far as how many levels it will take to get you to your cheap 20-30 cents. Then downhill from there on out making it near impossible to win any period. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Nat says
Hey Jenn – yes many people saying the same thing. How much are you up to?
C Smith says
A complete waste of time if you are looking to get to $20. Got to $19.70 then having to complete nearly 100 levels for next reward. Guess what, reward stated $5+ and actually credited 1 cent! This carries on and on, states your reward is several dollars and credits 1 cent each time. Don’t bother with this if you are looking for a payout, a complete con.
Nat says
Yes – very frustrating and pretty misleading too.
Manny says
It will stop giving penny when you reached $19.99. Therefore, you will not get that $20. This game is scam.
