Is Internet Marketing Over Saturated: Are You Just Wasting Your Time Bothering?
Before I answer this – I think it’s important to point out that internet marketing is an umbrella term and could be understood in various ways.
Internet Marketing relates to marketing and advertising effort online, with the intention of making sales, promoting products, brands or services.
It may involve web marketing, email marketing or social media marketing.
With web marketing, this may include affiliate marketing, SEO efforts to generate free organic traffic and paid advertising.
Email marketing may also include selling products directly, as well as affiliate marketing.
Social media marketing can be used not only to drive sales, but also to build a brand reputation, to get noticed and gain followers.
The Reality: Internet Marketing Is Growing!
This is a growing industry, with a majority of companies now needing an online presence and more people coming online every day.
It is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs, who want to build their own online businesses.
For example, many regular small blog and website owners will engage in some form of internet marketing now.
There are many informational sites, or niche sites out there, making money from their internet marketing efforts.
It’s predicted that Affiliate marketing alone will grow massively in the next five years.
Internet Marketing – Is It Too Crowded?
You might think that with all these business owners, large companies and millions of other blogs and websites trying to get peoples attention…
Is there really much chance of making money now?
Have all the good ideas dried up? Is there any space for new people coming in?
The thing is, you don’t need a new idea.
You just need more perseverance than most and you need to think about how you can add value, not just make money.
Don’t Take Short Cuts!
For example, many people will go online and decide to go into the online dating niche, dog training or anxiety niche…
They then throw up a website with the intention of gaining visitors and selling products to them.
The thing most people often miss out when they’re doing this, is how they are adding value.
People stick up really spammy looking websites, with very little content (apart from Ads)… and are wonder why they’ve made zero money.
There are also plenty of scam programs out there, that will give you a bunch of pre-made websites and tell you you only need to drive traffic to them to make money.
The websites already have sales funnels all set up, so your job is to get people to the site.
The problem is that generating traffic, is one of the hardest tasks for many marketers – and especially new ones.
Consequently, people give up, think that internet marketing is a scam and pretty much miss the point.
While internet marketing is often pigeon holed into some sort of get rich scheme by many…
it is far from that.
Most people hear about internet marketing, get roped into buying some products that promise a lot and deliver nothing – and then quit.
Don’t get roped into buying products that promise you a short cut.
Latching on to a “system,” will not help you to create an independent business, you need to develop skills that you learn from scratch and develop over time.
Get Skills To Pay The Bills!
You need to take time to learn and develop internet marketing skills – while taking action as you learn, rather than expecting everything to just happen.
Because, even if your initial projects don’t work out, having certain internet marketing knowledge can help you get work online in the long-term!
For example, there are many individuals and businesses who need help with SEO, social media marketing, email marketing and so on…
You could help out local businesses build an internet presence, help website/blog owners rank better in Google, or get general freelance work.
Having internet marketing skills, gives you a whole bunch of desirable knowledge that a majority of people do not have!
Don’t spend too long deciding!
If you want to go into a niche, just do it.
Don’t spend forever wondering whether or not it will work.
A huge amount of people DO NOT stick it out.
You need to be that 1% that do stick it out – and stick it out way beyond that point where a majority would give up.
It’s definitely not for everyone.
Unfortunately, there are many gurus out there who will tell you money they make is quick and easy.
Well, maybe it is for them… NOW
But it took them a lot of time, effort and perseverance to get where they are.
The reality is it takes a long time for most people.
Months before they see the first sales and potentially years before they’re earning enough to live off.
And that’s not just a couple of years putting in an hour or two a week.
I know I have heard plenty of people say they’d be on the computer 12-15 hours a day in the beginning.
In my opinion, I’d dedicate at least a couple of hours each day during the week to get started.
So, you need to be committed – but is it over saturated?
No.
Opportunities online pop up every day and even though you may not get it right the first, second, third, or forth time…
You WILL learn from everything you do.
As long as you are working or learning and keeping your eye out for potential opportunities – you will find them.
Many people may go online believing they’re destined for one thing – and find themselves doing something very different down the road.
If you’re open to possibilities and are learning plenty of skills to help you become a good marketer, you will be able to make use of those skills in future.
But there are are so many different areas that you could explore online and even in the most competitive areas, there is still room for new people.
This is also due to the fact that a mass amount of people give up all the time, (even those who have reached a certain amount of success).
People give themselves excuse after excuse.
People are often looking for a reason to NOT do something.
Or a reason to QUIT.
If you’re asking whether internet marketing is saturated – it may be because you’re scared you’re going to fail.
If you go into it with that mentality from the beginning, the chances are, that’s exactly what will happen.
Because there will be many difficult periods and times you’re doubting everything and want to quit.
If you’re constantly looking for some reason why it’s not going to work for you; that’s probably what you will find.
On the other hand, if you don’t see failure as an option, you make it work no matter what.
You may be worried that you’re going to put in all this time and effort for nothing – but I can guarantee you, that’s not the case.
Because what you will learn, (even if you don’t see the success you want) will be worth the effort you put in and you can use that knowledge in a variety of ways.
Anyway, it’s practically guaranteed that you will fail multiple times on some scale or other.
It’s how you learn from those mistakes and failures that counts.
So what if it didn’t work this time!?
The question is: Why didn’t it work?
What are you going to do next time?
Many times, success is simply the result sheer perseverance and hard work.
Not luck.
You have to still be the one standing, when all the rest are falling by the wayside.
Plus: Keep This In Mind…
The internet itself is still in its infancy.
In the grand scheme of things, it has not been around long.
More and more people are coming online every day and with those people – comes possibility.
NOW is the time to learn the skills that will help you down the road to create an income online.
Start Today – Do Not Procrastinate!
I wanted to start a blog 15+ years ago.
I even did start a couple of blogs on blogger.com – but I gave up each time, within the first MONTH!
Back then though, the concept of making money from a blog was not even on the radar for me, I didn’t understand that was possible.
But what IF I had started back then!?
While there is little point wishing that you’d started long ago….
There IS a point in starting today.
The worst thing you can do is keep putting it off.
If you really want to learn about internet marketing, you need to take action and take it soon.
The best advice I can give you is to find some legit where you can get step-by-step help and advice.
I spent months myself trying to figure this stuff out on my own and wasted so much time.
I recommend this training for beginners!

I think the main point people miss is that you can make money in most things (as long as they are things people actually need) if you get good enough.
There’s no easy pickings really and it’s misleading to present things that way. So you can make money online. You can also make money investing property. You can also make money playing football.
The field of activity is less relevant than the quality of your knowledge and abilities you have.

Hi richard – that’s right you can make money from any field of expertise. This blog is largely based on trying to make an income online – however that may be. Whether freelancing, affiliate marketing, selling physical products and so on… Whatever route people take, it won’t be easy. But, you’re right, if you’re good enough – or knowledgeable enough – in a certain field, you can make money from it.
